Active project
GoImmigrant.org
GoImmigrant.org is a plain, fast resource site for people dealing with immigration enforcement in the Chicago area, or helping someone who is. Emergency hotlines, legal aid contacts and know-your-rights guidance come first, with tap-to-call phone numbers.
It’s an active project. I update it regularly: new articles, revised guides and contact details that stay current. By my own rough count it gets a few hundred visitors a week.

Why it exists
The right phone number, fast, in your language
When a family member has just been detained, nobody needs a slick app. They need the right number, quickly, in a language they read. Everything on the site is built around that.
What’s on it
What the site does today
- Emergency sections up front: ICE emergency and family support hotlines, legal aid contacts, what to do if ICE comes to your door, if you’re arrested, or if a family member is detained.
- A language switcher for English, Spanish, Polish, Lithuanian, French and Arabic. Arabic switches the page to a right-to-left layout.
- Step-by-step guides: getting an ITIN, enrolling a child in school, common visa types and immigration pathways, and a family safety plan for preparing before an emergency.
- An articles section with dated, plain-language news posts, each with its sources linked, many with a Spanish version too.
- Clear notes that it’s a community resource, not legal advice, and to call 911 in an emergency.
Keeping it current
A resource is only useful if it’s up to date
Immigration rules, local policies and phone numbers change. Pages show when they were last updated, and new articles go up as things happen in Chicago and Illinois. The weekly visitor number above is my own rough estimate, not a published metric.
