Under The Helmet Riders Foundation website

Live · maintained

Under The Helmet Riders Foundation started with a motorcycle-focused mission. It’s now expanding into broader public safety: free CPR, AED and Stop the Bleed training, road user safety education for drivers, riders and parents, and a youth advocacy program for high school students.

The website has to explain all of that clearly, make it easy to donate, apply or get in touch, and look like an organization you can trust. Creating and maintaining it is part of my job as the foundation’s Technology Director.

What the site does

One place for a growing mission

  • Explains the foundation’s programs: public safety training, youth advocacy and leadership, and road user safety education.
  • Points visitors to action: donating, applying for community health worker roles, and contacting the team.
  • Introduces the team and the organizations the foundation works with.
  • Links to the public safety dashboard, so the two projects support each other.

The real challenge

Keeping up with an organization that’s changing

The code is the easy part. The harder part is keeping the site accurate while the organization itself evolves: new programs, new people, and a mission that’s grown well past motorcycles. When the work changes, the site has to change with it.

My role

What I do on it

  • Built the site and keep it updated as programs, people and priorities change.
  • Edit content and layout so it reads clearly on phones as well as desktops.
  • Keep it connected to the foundation’s other tools, like the dashboard.
