Earlier work

Where I started: learning projects and early experiments. None of them are running today.

    FARS Motorcycle Fatality Dashboard

An earlier, narrower dashboard built for Under The Helmet Riders Foundation that mapped motorcycle fatalities from NHTSA’s FARS data, filterable by state, year and contributing factors.

What I took from it: It grew into the UTH Public Safety Dashboard, which covers much more ground and still has a rider safety view.

    Chicago Gun Violence Tracker

A browser-only map of Chicago assault and homicide incidents pulled from the Chicago Data Portal, with community area boundaries, a heatmap mode, neighborhood rankings and time filters.

What I took from it: Working with a public data API and map layers. The UTH dashboard’s Chicago views now cover this ground with more context.

    Nessus-AI report demo

A front-end demo that took pasted Nessus scan output and showed what a plain-English executive summary could look like. The summary was simulated for demonstration; it did not call an AI model.

What I took from it: How vulnerability scan data is structured, and what I’d want a real tool to do with it.

    SQL injection scanner

A Python script that tested GET parameters for basic SQL injection against DVWA and other intentionally vulnerable practice labs.

What I took from it: HTTP requests, pattern matching, and how unsanitized input becomes a vulnerability.

    Password manager

A small Python app for saving and retrieving login credentials, built as an exercise.

What I took from it: File handling, simple UI design, data storage and input validation.

    Home WiFi penetration test

With the network owner’s permission, tested a home WiFi network against common attacks: captured a WPA2 handshake, cracked the password with a wordlist, and wrote up remediation steps.

What I took from it: How WPA2 handshake capture and wordlist attacks work, and how to write up a fix someone can act on.

    Virtual pentesting lab

An isolated practice lab in VirtualBox with Kali Linux, Metasploitable, DVWA and pfSense, documented so it could be rebuilt.

What I took from it: Networking basics, virtualization, and practicing attack and defense somewhere safe.
